The letter from the young ladies in support of their friends at Sigma Nu offers no basis for excusing the fraternity members' irresponsible behavior that led them to be hospitalized. I hope this 5 year suspension holds to serve as an example of accountability for such dangerous behavior.

As a fellow Greek Alum from UMO, I have to agree with your sentiments, Bob - they took my house and turned it into office space. A group of my brothers have banded together to work with UMO to buy it back, and they've been led around in circles for four years now. I understand your sentiments, but don't expect UMO to cooperate and give you a straight answer. DO expect them to patronize you regularly in hopes of keeping your money streaming in. They don't care that almost 70% of their financial support is from Greek alumni from the 1940's - 1960's. What they don't realize is that these guys are dying off, and what they will be left with for potential donors are pissed off alums like you and I. Where will the money come from then?? The good news is that there is power in numbers, and if older Greek alums can form an alliance and raise a stink, perhaps the University's arrogance will tone down considerably.

You are correct. The University has long coveted that space for expansion of the Crossland Center. Now it looks like they are doing all they can to move forward.

As a brother from back in the day, I am appalled at the callousness of Dean Dana, and the office of the President.

The primary issue at the outset of this incident was whether or not 2 high school girls were illegally served alcohol at the Nu, justifying the suspension. Well, they weren't. (which is what I heard from those who were there)

Now the University is upholding the 5 year suspension, regardless of the facts that the brothers did actually did these 2 a favor and saved their lives.

I have since contacted the University and demanded that my name be removed from any donation solicitation list, and I suggest others do the same.

do you people even attempt rational, independent thought? or is any nonsense that gives credence to your racist / homophobic tendencies just "good enough to be true"? this is utter nonsense, all of it. i cannot even begin to comprehend how a human being could be so ridiculously & pathetically small. your mind, liquid esoteric, is less developed than my dog's. if only he he had the ability to speak, write, and influence others while you were relegated to simply licking your own arsehole, then the universe would at least begin to align correctly... the irony is that it's your way of thinking (or lack thereof) that's created and continues to support so many of the worldly evils it at least appears you wackjobs take offense with.

I think you are crazy. This special was an absolute classic, and if you had the audio on your computer on, you would have heard the audience cracking up-non stop! Devoted little to the topic of being a father???? He opened with this subject and joked about it for a good 8-10 minutes. Terrible review....just awful...

Jim Page will be clearing house very soon. And that's not soon enough. College system offices should be staffed with people with experience, sure. In *other* university systems, such as New York, Ohio, Georgia, and Pennsylvania... where they have actual working university systems.

This is the BIGGEST BS OF THE CENTURY,

"When you go to the Senior level, experience weighs as much or more than a degree from years ago."

Pattenaude is saying that for all you young or just regular unconnected people, you can kick the can on down the road, but if you are in the good old boy network of cons and cronies then the rules don't apply and we'll save you a seat at the trough.

Pattenaude will hire her friends rather than the guy or gal who has spent years on their education. Nice to know we only hire the best.

Big surprise, a politician takes care of his friends at the expense of the rest of us. The only way this kind of back-door business is going to stop is if voters put a boot in the throat of politicians.

Now a days, there isn't anyone in politics that isn't there just for the money. The only way to control the situation is by FAST TURNOVER. You've got to continually vote the bastards out until you get someone you can stomach. That is about the best you can hope for.

Baldacci was a bum on so many levels.
Maine is ripe for fraud as is any place where people don't pay attention.
